EmailDecember of 2007 was a terrible month for my father. That was especially unfortunate, since he turned 64 on the 18th, and since that Christmas was the first to feature a new (pending) addition to the family: Christie's fiancee Marty. What was wrong with December? It started off with a few mystery illnesses and his wife re-entering Chemo; the problems worsened in the middle of the month with a Liver cancer scare; and then shortly before Christmas, Ken's brother Don took ill; then passed away.
As the kids came home for the week, and heaps of presents appeared under the tree; dad tried to enjoy the moment; but we could all tell something was eating away at him. Maybe the stress of the month had got to him. He got worse and worse & eventually wound up in a Hospital.
The 3 weeks in Hospital were hard on both Ken and those who cared about him. His stroke recovery was going well, and his spirits brightening with it. But there was no treating his cancer until his stroke recovery was done; and despite a brave struggle, the cancer just didn't leave him enough time.
I have attached below links to his obituary and guest book.
